'Tis The Season To Pack On Pounds: Tips For Healthier Holiday Eating

The Thanksgiving meal is now behind us, but the holiday eating season is just beginning. Over the next couple of months, friends and family will call, party invitations will arrive, and busy schedules will mean holiday cheer bursting with waist-expanding calories.

That doesn't mean you'll have to ring in the new year with a few extra pounds, however. With the help of registered dietitians Hope Warshaw, author of Guide to Healthy Restaurant Eating and Dawn Jackson Blatner, here are some tips for keeping the holiday eating — from the office party to those fast food stops between holiday chores — a little healthier this year .

"Don't forget that parties aren't about overeating food or over-serving drinks. It's for good conversation and enjoying your family and friends," says Blatner. "Remember the meaning of the season."
